Why a Board and Train?
Expert Training
Your dog will be trained by a professional trainer who has experience dealing with a wide variety of behaviors and issues. DK9 uses proven, effective techniques that may not be easily obtained by you (the owner) training their dog on their own.
Consistency
One of the key challenges in dog training is ensuring consistency. In a board-and-train program, your dog is exposed to structured training every day, multiple times a day. This can lead to faster learning and a better understanding of commands and boundaries because the dog is trained multiple times a day in a controlled environment.
Focused Attention
When a dog is in a board and train, the trainer is able to give your dog their undivided attention, which helps to address issues that might be hard to work on in a home setting the behaviors may have developed in, especially if there are distractions or multiple dogs in the household.
Behavior Modification
These programs are particularly helpful for addressing behavior issues like leash pulling, separation anxiety, barking, aggression, reactivity or destructive behavior. Trainers have the expertise to identify the root cause of a behavior and can work on a solution in a focused, consistent, and controlled environment.
Structured Environment
Board-and-train programs usually offer a structured daily routine, including exercise, mental stimulation, and training sessions. This routine can help the dog feel more balanced, reducing anxiety and unwanted behaviors.
Time-Saving for Owners
If you have a busy schedule, a board-and-train program can be a great option. Instead of trying to find the time for daily training sessions, you can have the dog trained by professionals while you’re away, and then apply the lessons when you get your dog back.
Socialization
Dogs in board-and-train programs may have the opportunity to socialize with other dogs or be exposed to different environments, helping to improve their social skills. This is particularly beneficial for puppies or dogs that are fearful or aggressive around other animals.
Owner Education
DK9 programs also provide an "owner follow-up" training sessions after the dog has completed the board-and-train program, where you learn how to continue reinforcing the training at home. This ensures your dog doesn't regress once they’re back home.
Accelerated Progress
Because your dog is trained multiple times a day in a controlled environment, many issues can be addressed much faster than with private or group training sessions. Dogs can often make significant progress in a matter of weeks, depending on the issue.
Peace of Mind for YOU!
If you're unsure how to handle a specific behavioral problem or training challenge, sending your dog to a professional program can give you peace of mind. You can trust that the issue is being handled by someone with experience, and you don’t have to stress about your dog’s progress.
